About the Role

Bolton Talent Solutions is seeking ambitious, talented, and enthusiastic GCSE English Lecturers to join our flourishing team on a temporary basis at Bolton College

Starting from September 2026, these opportunities offer consistent hours and ongoing assignments, depending on curriculum needs.

You will deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching and learning across GCSE English, with potential involvement in Functional Skills and community learning provision. You will support learners aged 16-18 to develop confidence in literacy, achieve their qualifications, and progress into further education or employment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging and inclusive GCSE English lessons
  • Adapt teaching to meet a wide range of learner needs and abilities
  • Build a positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Effectively manage learner behaviour to maximise engagement and progress
  • Monitor learner progress and provide clear, constructive feedback
  • Develop and utilise creative and interactive teaching resources
  • Contribute to curriculum delivery, course development, and quality improvement
  • Support achievement of departmental targets including retention and success rates

About You

Ideally, you will have:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in English or a related subject
  • A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent)
  • Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in English and Maths
  • Experience delivering GCSE English (FE or secondary setting preferred)
  • Experience embedding English into vocational or academic programmes
  • Strong classroom management and learner engagement skills
  • Experience developing innovative and interactive learning materials
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, learner-focused approach
  • An enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
