Bolton Talent Solutions is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated GCSE English Lecturer to join the English team at Bolton College.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator with a PGCE (or equivalent teaching qualification) and proven experience teaching GCSE English. You will play a key role in helping learners develop essential literacy skills, build confidence, and achieve the qualifications they need to progress into higher education, apprenticeships, or employment.

The Role

You will be responsible for delivering engaging and inclusive GCSE English lessons to learners aged 16-18, supporting them to achieve their full potential through innovative and learner-centred teaching.

You may also have opportunities to contribute to Functional Skills and wider English provision where required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality GCSE English lessons that motivate and inspire learners.
  • Plan, prepare, and assess learning in line with curriculum requirements.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Differentiate teaching approaches to meet individual learner needs.
  • Track learner progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Develop engaging teaching resources that enhance learner participation.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support achievement of departmental targets, including retention, attendance, and success rates.
  • Promote high standards of behaviour, achievement, and learner engagement.

Essential Requirements

  • PGCE teaching qualification (essential)
  • Proven experience teaching GCSE English
  • Degree in English or a related subject
  • Level 2 English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of the GCSE English curriculum
  • Excellent classroom management and learner engagement skills
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and support learners from diverse backgrounds
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
